Back in Business

After an injury-mandated hiatus, Company Jump is back on it's feet (literally)! And we're thrilled to announce that now Nadine has no other Achilles tendons to tear! She's out of options! She's torn them both now and is going to have to take up breaking bones if it's more time off she wants!

After performing at a private fundraising event in Squamish, we've been back in rehearsals with the fabulous Sweet Peas, and are bracing ourselves for a great show at the EA Rawlinsons Centre for the Arts in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on May 19th.

.... aaaaand there is a surprise in the works for our Vancouver area fans! Shhhh! We'll keep you posted.

Speaking of Rupert

Rupert.

Even his name makes me (us) sigh.

His is the calming reassurance that competency brings. His is the humor that leaves us all undone. His is the packing that makes our immense load of gear fit into cars SMALLER than the Tampax. His is the planning that coordinates the many cities and towns on our tours, the schmoozing that gets us sponsorship (thanks Prestige!). His are the playlists that help to pass the hours on the road. He is the man who thinks to bring water and coffee and chocolate-y treats to tired performers. His is the hairspray I use if I left mine in the last hotel room.

Rupert is our Tour Manager and Booking agent. He's Australian, and we're never letting him go back.

Several years back Rupert met with wild success with his band "Sonic Animation" which spurned a whole dance movement (the Melbourne Shuffle). You oughta see him dance.

He's been living in BC for the past several years and has agreed, for the time being, to work with us, and we are grateful and delirious (not necessarily in that order).

Rupert, we love you.

$200 Wonder Car

Speaking of driving safely ...

Rupert and Nadine made it as far as Manning before Rupert's $200 Ford Tampax (as he affectionately calls it) began it's 40km/hr slow-motion slide into the ditch.

"Ohhhh, I'm sorry," was his defeated apology as brake-pumping, gearing down, and corrective steering all proved useless against the irresistible lure of the roadside ditch. Nadine reports that he was undeterred and drove another 20 feet once inside the ditch. Ahhh. Such is the power of denial.

It only added 5 extra hours to their trip.

Nadine used this time to contemplate how to incorporate her new knowledge of extreme reality stunting into our choreography for "Six Jerks in a Jeep".

No injuries ... well, except the Tampax. Er ... Tempo.

Car: $200
Repairs: $250
Blog Fodder: Priceless
